Tech Requirements

To access our online program, students’ equipment must meet the minimum requirements below. Note that the minimum computer and software requirements may be updated during a student’s course of studies.

For JD Students, ALU currently does not support Tablet or Mobile devices for Adobe Connect attendance tracking purposes.

  • Ability to use email to correspond
  • Ability to access, create, and save documents in MS Word or standard.rtf (rich text format)
  • Ability to browse the Web
  • CPU Processor: 1.86Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo or greater
  • RAM: 2GB or highest recommended for the operating system
  • Hard drive: 1GB of available space or highest recommended for the operating system
  • Operating System: Windows 10 (32-bit/64-bit)
    • Alternate versions of Windows 10, such as Windows RT and Windows 10 S, are NOT supported at this time.
    • Only genuine, U.S.-English versions of Windows Operating Systems are supported
  • Browser: Google Chrome (v66.0 or above), Mozilla Firefox (v55.0 or above) and Edge (EdgeHTML v16 or above)
    • ALU Recommend using Google Chrome
  • Internet connection bandwidth: 512 Kbps
  • Screen resolution must be 1024×768 or higher
  • Adobe Reader (Version 9, 11, or DC) is required for exams containing PDF attachments.
  • ALU does not support Tablet devices other than Surface Pro as detailed below.
  • For onsite support, a working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adapter)
  • Administrator level account permissions
  • Surface Pro, Surface Books, and Surface Laptops are supported (Non-Pro Surface devices are NOT supported).
  • Must be running a supported Operating System (See Windows Requirements).
  • External Keyboard (USB or Bluetooth) required. Bluetooth keyboards must be paired prior to launching exam.
  • Hard Drive: Minimum of 1GB available space.
  • Browser: Google Chrome (v66.0 or above), Mozilla Firefox (v55.0 or above) and Edge (EdgeHTML v16 or above)
    • ALU Recommend using Google Chrome
  • Adobe Reader (Version 9, 11, or DC) is required for exams containing PDF attachments.
  • For onsite support, and in order to backup the answer files to USB, a working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adapter)
  • Internet connection bandwidth: 512 Kbps
  • Screen Resolution must be 1920×1080.
  • Administrator level account permissions.
  • CPU Processor: 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo or faster processor
  • RAM: 2GB or highest recommended for the operating system
  • Operating System:
    • OS X 10.11 El Capitan
    • macOS 10.12 Sierra
    • macOS 10.13 High Sierra
    • Server version of Mac OS X is not supported
  • Hard drive: 1GB of available space or highest recommended for the operating system
  • Browser: Google Chrome (v66.0 & above), Apple Safari (v11.0 & above) and Mozilla Firefox (v55.0 & above)
    • ALU Recommend using Google Chrome
  • Internet connection bandwidth: 512 Kbps
  • Screen resolution must be 1024×768 or higher
  • For onsite support, a working USB port is required (Newer devices may require an adapter)
