19 Jan What is GoArmyEd | Abraham Lincoln University
GoArmyEd is the new online portal provided to active-duty Army soldiers, veterans and their spouses by the Army Continuing Education System (ACES). GoArmyEd allows those eligible service members, veterans and army spouses pursuing educational dreams to request tuition assistance (TA) online for classroom, distance learning, and eArmyU online college courses. As a University that offers a wide variety of degree programs for the military, we are very familiar with GoArmyEd.
A dynamic online portal, GoArmyEd automates many of the paper-based procedures historically conducted with Army Education Counselors, making the processes to gain funding and start learning more quick and efficient. The portal provides a one-stop location for managing a college education and using TA benefits, and gives access to many regionally and nationally accredited colleges and universities spanning more than a thousand available degree plans.
The portal is not only used by soldiers to pursue their postsecondary educational goals but by Army Education Counselors to provide educational guidance and by affiliated schools to deliver degree and course offerings as well as reporting soldier progress.
Tuition Assistance (TA)
Military Tuition Assistance (TA) is one of the most often cited benefits of serving in the military, and provides opportunities for higher education to many who would not have had access without it. GoArmyEd is the place for all eligible soldiers in the Army to request TA, which is available to for soldiers seeking to complete degree programs, to complete a high school diploma, and to complete certificate programs. All TA for active duty, USAR, and ARNG soldiers must be requested through GoArmyEd.
The Department of Defense’s TA fiscal policies are uniform across the military services, levying a per semester hour cap at $250 and a $4,500 fiscal year ceiling. The Army will pay 100% of tuition and authorized fees charged by a school up to the established per semester hour cap and fiscal year ceiling.
GoArmyEd streamlines the TA procedure and eliminates much of the paperwork that previously held up the process and made it more complicated for soldiers and Army Education counselors alike.
- Soldiers request TA through www.GoArmyEd.com prior to course start date and before the school’s late registration period.
- TA requested on course-by-course basis.
- GoArmyEd notifies soldier whether TA has been approved or not. If not approved, reasons and next steps are provided.
- Drops/withdrawals must take place within GoArmyEd.
- TA Request Authorization forms for classes with schools that do not participate in the electronic GoArmyEd schedule must be completed in GoArmyEd.
- Soldiers must sign a TA Statement of Understanding each fiscal year
Abraham Lincoln University is proud to offer courses and programs eligible for the TA benefits provided by GoArmyEd. For more information visit www.alu.edu.
