How is the lecture going on at ALU?

On-line live interative lecture

Learning Center

The Learning Center is an entry point to the on-line lecture room. ALU students can join the live broadcasting class, discuss, submit homeworks and take exams through Learning Center.

Learning Center

ALU's technology team is developing ALU Live Interactive® to add more interactive and better quality of service to Learning Center. It consists of a live video/ audio broadcast of lecture, online interactive chatroom, and a multimedia whiteboard.

The proposed outcome will be a highly advanced system for online education, and is being developed by ALU's in-house technology R&D team. ALU is committed to innovation of education technology, and works hard to deliver high-quality education to our students.

System Requirements

  • You must have a connection to the high-speed internet (e.g. cable/DSL).
  • Your computer must have a web browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer) that supports frames and JavaScript.
  • Sound output device, speaker or headphone (a powered speaker is recommended)
Our web site has been developed and tested on Microsoft Windows (both Windows 2000 and Windows XP) with Internet Explorer 6 and Microsoft Media Player 10.
We try our best to support other systems, but we regret to have to say that we do not have resources to support all possible platforms.

For all non-Win/IE/MP users, please read the followings:

Perhaps, you are using either Netscape or Mozilla, with which you will not have any trouble to access our lectures.

[Mac]
Most (but not all) Mac users can now access the lectures, but if you have any problems, please send us an email at so that we could find a solution.

[Linux]
Linux users will have to install software to play our lectures in Windows Media Video (WMV) formats. Many Linux-based media players (e.g. MPlayer, Xine) currently support WMV formats.

[West Law]

West LawWestLaw is the predominant provider of online legal resources. In addition to the textbooks and casebooks that you use in class, WestLaw can greatly improve your understanding of the concepts covered in class. All ALU students receive a WestLaw account and can access their WestLaw account at home through their internet provider.

WestLaw does:

  • provide functions to retrieve a specific document by citation, by title or with Natural Language.
  • lead you through a fast-paced look at the most current, accurate and comprehensive way of seeing if a case or statute is good law.
  • identify key numbers and terms most relevant to your legal issue for precise searching.
  • take care of students from learning to brief cases to preparing for class to studying for finals.

[CALI]

The Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction

CALICALI is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit consortium of law schools that researches and develops computer-mediated legal instruction and supports institutions and individuals using technology and distance learning in legal education.

The system has extensive lessons in areas of Contracts and Real Property, exercises and subject matter for many other law school classes, materials useful in bar prep activities, and iPOD Podcasts of very interesting and useful discussions on legal doctrine and procedure.
