Admissions at Abraham Lincoln University

The admissions team at Abraham Lincoln University invites you to explore how ALU’s online degree programs can work for you.

Before applying, you should view relevant program requirements and application procedures or contact the Admissions team. Additional information is available for those who seek transfer credit or want to study at ALU as an international student. Online Degree Program Requirements

 

 

University Programs – Online Application Procedure

 

For Graduate, Bachelor’s, Associate, and Diploma/Certificate Programs

 

    1. Once you have identified your program of interest and had your questions answered by the ALU Admissions team or through ALU’s online admissions resources, you may complete the online application following the link below. All applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of $50.00 by a credit card, debit card, or usage of a PayPal account in order for applications to be processed, except for active-duty military and veteran prospects who qualify for an application fee waiver. Apply Now!
    2. Abraham Lincoln University typically requires official transcripts or official documentation for admissions committee review, so be ready to ask your post-secondary institution(s) to send official, sealed transcripts to:

    3. For Graduate, Bachelor’s, Associate, and Diploma/Certificate programs, an ALU Admissions representative will serve as your point of contact to ensure that all documentation can be provided so that Student Services can develop an individual degree plan that shows the best cost savings value of any possible transferred credits. They will also provide you with a summary of courses that are required for graduation. Once all admissions and enrollment action items are complete, students are enrolled into an online orientation course (ORT100) and are provided access to the Learning Center.
    4. Provide a current government-issued photo ID
    5. Additional steps are required for international students or who may have other circumstances to assess. A member of ALU’s admissions team can assist you at (213)252-5100 ext. 1 or admissions@alu.edu regarding these scenarios.

 

Juris Doctor – Online Application Procedure

 

An ALU School of Law admissions representative will serve as your point of contact to ensure that you provide accurate and complete information on all application steps. All admissions items are necessary to determine qualifications and an applicant’s potential to practice law. All items are required before an applicant’s package can be submitted to the admissions committee. More items are required for students with additional circumstances regarding prior law school history or other issues – please see below.

 

    1. Once you have had your questions answered by the ALU Admissions team or through ALU’s online admissions resources, you may complete the online application following the link below.     2. For the Juris Doctor degree program,

      Online Assessment Test
      If you received an LSAT of 140 or above, upon verification you are not required to take the assessment test.

    3. Personal Statement between 300-500 words answering:
      Why do you want to attend law school?
      What will you do when you receive your J.D. degree?
    4. Professional Resume
    5. Two Academic, Professional, or Personal Letters of Recommendation
      • Only one letter may be from the Personal category.
      • Recommendation letters should provide an understanding of your professional or academic experience, or other qualifications that demonstrate your work ethic, analytical skills, personal characteristics, inspirations, and other relevant qualities.
    6. College Transcripts Abraham Lincoln University requires official transcripts or official documentation for admissions committee review, so be ready to ask your post-secondary institution(s) to send official, sealed transcripts to:

      • Students applying for the Juris Doctor are required to present transcripts from their Bachelor’s degree or higher. All submitted academic credentials must be earned from a college or university accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
      • Degrees earned from institutions outside of the US must be presented with an official translation for degree and subject equivalency comparable to instruction in the United States, provided by a credential evaluation service approved by the State Bar of California. The ALU admissions office will provide a list of these services upon request.
      • Unofficial transcripts will be considered, but official transcripts should be submitted promptly for review. At latest, the University must receive official transcript(s) from the institution(s) you attended within 30 days of the start of the course.
    7. Provide a current government issued photo ID
    8. Additional steps are required for students who have prior law school history, international students, or those who may have issues that otherwise touch on qualifications and potential.
