Roy Winter has 30 years of senior executive leadership with education divisions of McGraw-Hill, National Education Corporation, Harcourt and Thomson Learning. As the former president of three accredited online universities, he has demonstrated strength in developing and implementing strategy that fosters academic quality, student retention and financial stability.

He is a past chairman of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) Business Standards Committee and has served as an accrediting commission evaluator. He received the DETC Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to distance learning.

Roy is a U.S. Army veteran and attended college on the GI Bill. He received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Fairmont State University and earned an MBA from West Virginia University.

Professor Park teaches Future Interests and Mortgages. She is also ALU’s Academic Support Officer and works extensively with students in ALU’s Academic Success Program.

Professor Park holds a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School, and a B.A. in English Literature from Stanford University, with Honors. Professor Park previously served as a Judical Extern for Judge Michael Nash, and for Judge Susan Bryant Deason.

She has taught law school since 2001 at Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California, where students three times elected her as the Outstanding Professor of the Year, stating that she is "an all around great professor, with organized lectures and a strong interest in making sure her students learn the material." Professor Buckner is nominated for a national study of What the Best Law Teachers Do, to be published by Harvard University Press.

Professor Buckner’s practice background is diverse. In private practice, she litigated civil cases in the areas of labor, employment, business, real estate and construction defect, bankruptcy, and general commercial law. As in-house counsel with a publicly traded company, she monitored and managed commercial and bankruptcy litigation nationwide, and litigated commercial and employment matters locally. More recently, she served as a federal prosecutor handling white collar criminal litigation in the Central District of California. Currently she practices law through Buckner Law Corp. in Irvine, California, focusing on professional responsibility, legal ethics, and the law of lawyering.

Professor Buckner is very active in the legal community. She served on the California State Bar's Committee on Professional Responsibility and Conduct (COPRAC) for the past five years, chairing COPRAC last year. She is also an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and participates on its Professional Responsibility & Ethics Committee, and in the Orange County Bar Association, where she serves on the OCBA's Professionalism and Ethics Committee. She is the Contributing Editor of the column Ethically Speaking in the Orange County Lawyer.

Courses:
Professor Buckner has taught Civil Procedure; Professional Responsibility; Remedies; Torts; Legal Ethics in Business Representation; and Professional Skills (Legal Research and Writing). She has also taught the ELLS Course (Expert Learning for Law Students). She developed the course on Legal Ethics in Business Representation for Western’s Business Law Certificate Program. She has also taught Business Law and Ethics to undergraduates at Argosy University. She has served as a judge for various Moot Court and Trial Advocacy competitions. Professor Buckner has also served on the faculty and as a judge in the Orange County Bar Association’s College of Trial Advocacy training program for practicing lawyers on opening and closing arguments.

Jessica Park is the Director of Compliance at Abraham Lincoln University. In this role, Ms. Park conducts institutional research, updates institutional leaders regarding higher education regulations and the latest news regarding accreditations and approvals and leads self-evaluation and outcomes assessment projects. Ms. Park also currently teaches Future Interests and Mortgages to fourth year law school students at the School of Law and has previously served as an Academic Support Officer in the School of Law’s Academic Success Program. Along with the University Registrar, Ms. Park is a Veterans Affairs Certifying Official and serves veteran students in this capacity.

Jessica Park holds a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School, and a B.A. in English Literature from Stanford University, with Honors.

Judge Jurado teaches Criminal Procedure

Judge Jurado is a Superior Court Judge in Los Angeles, California. Judge Jurado is a former Assistant United States Attorney and former prosecutor in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and he is a graduate of Yale University.

As a prosecutor, he was involved in numerous complex cases, including the first RICO street gang prosecution, and argued seven cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. While in private practice, he litigated multi-million dollar civil cases. Immediately before being appointed to the bench, he was an outside monitor of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, where he oversaw internal affairs cases. He has published several articles in criminal procedure and administrative law. He enjoys teaching law school, judging high school mock trial competitions, mentoring young attorneys, playing softball, and spending time with his family. He was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2006, and currently presides over felony criminal cases.

KAREN TRAVIS

Professor Travis teaches Torts and Professional Skills I.

Prof. Travis has extensive experience as a Senior Trial Attorney litigating torts matters, including class actions, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, general liability, public entity defense, prison health care, civil rights, employment, and education issues.

She holds a JD from the University of Southern California, and teaching credentials in New York and California. She also earned a Masters in Speech Pathology/Audiology and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Sciences.

Prof. Travis has taught undergraduates at San Jose State University where she served as Director of a clinic on speech and hearing. More recently, and has taught in National University's paralegal studies program, teaching Legal Research and Writing, Employment Law, Torts, Contracts, and Litigation I and II.

Professor Chao teaches Criminal Law

Professor Chao received and LLM from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2000. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in1996. Professor Chao also has a Master's of Arts in Sociology from DePaul University. He holds a B.A. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Political Science and English.

Professor Chao worked as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office as a prosecutor from 2001 to 2007, where he prosecuted criminal cases and conducted training sessions for attorneys and law clerks. Professor Chao also worked for NYC Children's Services - Family Court Legal Services in Manhattan from 2008 through 2010.

Professor Gardner teaches Corporations, Advanced Legal Research and Writing, and the Uniform Commercial Code course.

Professor Gardner holds a B.A. in Economics from Brigham Young University (1985), Magna Cum Laude. He earned an M.B.A. (Accounting and Finance) from New York University, Stern School of Business (1990) and earned his J.D. (1998) from Brigham Young University, J. Reuben Clark Law School.

Professor Gardner is a C.P.A. and has worked as a Tax Accountant for Arthur Andersen LLP and a Senior Auditor for Price Waterhouse.

Professor Gardner has substantial experience in transactional law, litigation, and bankruptcy law. He has traveled widely and is fluent in Spanish.

Professor Frazee teaches Family Law.

Professor Frazee graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles and received her J.D. from Abraham Lincoln University School of Law.

Professor Frazee formed Frazee Law Group in Pasadena, where she practices family law.

Professor Frazee is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Pasadena Bar Association.

DAVID GRAUBERT

Professor Graubert teaches Constitutional Law and the First Amendment course.

Professor Graubert earned his J.D. degree at Stanford Law School in 1996. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Adelphi University in New York.

Prior to becoming an attorney, he taught in Los Angeles city schools for nine years, including classes in English and United States Government. Among his students were a diverse variety of immigrants from all over who had settled in L.A. and decided to become U.S. citizens.

While at Stanford, Professor Graubert’s background as a professional educator proved useful when he was chosen by Prof. Tom Campbell, at the time also serving as a U.S. Congressman for a district in Silicon Valley (for which Prof. Campbell regularly flew to Washington, D.C.), for a sought-after position assisting with courses in Public Policy and International Law.

During the semesters that Prof. Campbell was in Congress, Professor Graubert worked at the State’s teacher’s union, the California Teachers Association.

During his first summer while at Stanford, Professor Graubert was a judicial extern for Justice Ronald M. George, one the most distinguished Chief Justices of the California Supreme Court.

As an attorney, Professor Graubert has practiced both litigation and corporate-transactional law, both for international law firms and as in-house counsel, for clients ranging from Wall Street investment banks to Hollywood entertainment companies.

Professor Green teaches Civil Litigation Before Trial.

Professor Green has his B.A. in general studies from University of Michigan, Summa Cum Laude, and Phi Beta Kappa, and holds a J.D. from Washburn University Law School. He also holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Virginia.

Professor Green currently works with Nemecek & Cole, in Sherman Oaks. He has handled 200 trials, including 45 jury trials. He has served as a State Representative in South Dakota. He also served as a criminal trial lawyer in the JAG Corps, and served as a law clerk to Justice Robert Morgan on the South Dakota Supreme Court.

Professor Green has also published two courtroom novels.

Professor Harris teaches Trial Techniques.

Professor Harris has his B.A. in psychology from U.C.L.A. and holds a J.D. from University of the Pacific, McGeorge Law School.

Professor Harris serves as the Principal Deputy County Counsel – Dependency – Section Head, at the office of Los Angeles County Counsel, where he has worked since 1991, and currently supervises 18 lawyers.

For the past three years, in conjunction with the Administrative Office of the Courts, Prof. Harris has taught trial techniques to attorneys and social workers.

Professor Knox teaches Wills & Trusts.

Ms. Knox is an associate attorney for a general practice law firm located in Woodland Hills. Professor Knox graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara majoring in Law and Society with a Criminal Justice Emphasis. She obtained her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of San Diego. Professor Knox’s initial years were spent in the area of criminal law, focusing primarily on writs and appeals.

Eventually Professor Knox delved into the world of Estate and Tax Planning and after two years opened up her own independent firm continuing the practice of law in the field of Estate Planning. In the Spring of 2007, Professor Knox joined the team at Anker Reed HSC, her current firm, and has spent her time there focusing her practice of law on trust administration, estate administration (aka Probate) and litigation involving trusts and estates.

Professor Hoang teaches Civil Procedure

Professor Hoang earned his Juris Doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 2004, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a minor in Piano performance from the University of California – San Diego (2000).

Professor Hoang is associated with the law firm of McCurdy and Leibl, LLP in Sherman Oaks, where he handles litigation. Professor Hoang also has taught at Irvine University College of Law, where he taught Civil Procedure, Evidence, Professional Responsibility, Document Drafting and Transactions in Goods.

Professor Myers teaches Products Liability Litigation

Prof. Myers has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Long Beach State University (1985). He holds his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles (1988).

Professor Myers currently works with Nemecek & Cole, in Sherman Oaks. He has handled civil litigation for more than 20 years, including first chair jury trials and appellate advocacy, in both state and federal courts. Prof. Myers is AV rated, and he has previously served as a Temporary Judge with the Los Angeles Superior Court.
